Plans and Pathways

The Norris School District Macrocosm distinguishes a learner-centric approach to developing agency and leadership at all levels. Plans And Pathways is one of the core principles of the macrocosm.

Learner profiles are used to co-design personalized PLANS AND PATHWAYS that are composed of relevant, contextualized learning experiences across four dimensions.

At Norris, we believe that Learning is the Process NOT the end Product.  Therefore, we strive to develop learning plans and pathways that foster a culture of learning that focuses on learner agency and self-efficacy and engages learners in continuous deep reflection and self-measurement of where they are and where they want to be.

Learner Plans and Pathways are developed in partnership or co-designed with the learner and the learning specialists.  Plans and pathways depict the goals and path a learner will take for academic, career, college and life success.  Plans and pathways are driven from the learner profile and reflect each learners strengths, struggles, and aspirations. Each learner moves on their own pathway in such a way that prepares them to meet their own educational aspirations.

The “Plan”  consists of the long range goals developed resulting from each learners Profile and Urgency Story. Plans include the Pathway to Graduation, Academic and Career Plan, and tracking competencies within the identified  priority continuum.

Pathways consist of a broad array of learning experiences, typically integrated across each of the dimensions based on the learner’s urgency story.  A broad array of learning opportunities exists from pursuits, skill acceleration, virtual, and open walled extended learning opportunities. Rather than following a set curricula, the competency based framework is used to creatively integrate learning experiences.
