District Adopted Standards
The School District of Norris is committed to setting high learner performance expectations and preparing all learners to be career, college and/or life ready. The curriculum is aligned to state benchmarked academic standards with a focus on disciplinary literacy where content knowledge, experiences, and skills are merged with the ability to read, write, listen, speak, think critically and perform within a learning context that is meaningful and relevant to the learner’s personal interests. In the Norris School District, learning pathways are designed around the needs of individual learners reflecting these standards as a baseline of performance expectation. Learning progressions allow students to close any achievement gaps, develop deeper understandings, and excel beyond the established grade/course baselines.

The District Adopted Standards are the foundation of the development of the Norris School District Competency Framework. Within the framework, learning specialists use a design process to identify learner specific competencies, learning goals with evidence indicators, success criteria and assessment prompt to develop plans and pathways unique to each learner. Each plan and pathway include Opportunities to Learn (OTL), Practice (OTP), Apply (OTA), Demonstrate (OTD) and/or Reflect (OTR).
